With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing weather alerts, parents and students are left wondering if schools will remain closed. Following previous rain-related disruptions that led to school closures in various states until August 31, here’s a breakdown of state-specific school closures for Monday.


Jammu And Kashmir

The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) announced on Sunday that all government and private educational institutions in the Jammu Division will be closed until Monday, September 1, due to heavy rainfall and alerts from the IMD.


Punjab

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains shared on X that, following the directives of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, all government, aided, recognized, and private schools in Punjab will remain closed until September 3, 2025, due to the flood situation. He also advised parents and students to prioritize safety and adhere to administrative instructions.


Uttarakhand

In Uttarakhand, schools in several hilly districts may close on September 1 as heavy rains and landslides continue to pose risks. However, official confirmation is still pending.


Andhra Pradesh

Parts of Andhra Pradesh experiencing continuous heavy rainfall may see schools closed on September 1, although official confirmation is awaited.


Himachal Pradesh

Due to landslides and flash floods, authorities in Himachal Pradesh may announce school closures for the upcoming days if conditions deteriorate. There is a possibility that September 1 will be declared a holiday in the most affected regions.


Kerala

In Kerala, schools will remain closed until September 7 for the traditional 10-day Onam break, with classes set to resume on September 8, 2025.
